The Final

One of the best things about my aforementioned birthday was the present I got from Gabor—tickets to the World Cup Final Game. Amazing!

Let’s be honest, I know nothing about soccer. Prior to the World Cup the only professional soccer game I had ever watched was world-famous Wilstermann play in Cochabamba, Bolivia. My interest in soccer, and particularly the World Cup, stemmed from my interest in taking part in celebrations. So my choice of what teams to support had nothing to do with technique and athleticism and everything to do with passion and fun. I could not have been more thrilled that Spain made it to the final, they were a team I could feel excited and passionate about. And in a competition of passion, Holland could never hold a candle to Spain.

It was such a joy to sit in the stadium and think that a billion people around the world were tuned into the game and there I was, in the stands. Words cannot describe, but perhaps a few pictures can help communicate the excitement.

Our buddy Brad. Always outrageous, and now famous too

Soccer City is gorgeous.

This would be the lovely “hips don’t lie” Shakira.

Game time.

Oh, Cannavaro

Viva España!

Hasta la victoria siempre

I have no idea who this guy is. But really, does it matter?

It’s her

A final salute to the 2010 World Cup.
