A Break

I got to take a little break from this extremely strenuous life that I lead to entertain the lovely and charming Lauren Hill for the last two weeks! Lauren is one of my very best buddies from LA, we lived together our first year out of college and have been fast friends ever since. Her visit was inspiration to revisit places I love as well as scout out some new favorites.

Lauren, Sarah, and I took a 5 day road trip to Mozambique where fresh seafood meals were the highlights, and having to take a tepid shower was the only lowlight. Getting pulled over 4 times by the cops was a lowlight, but getting off scott free 3 of those times was a highlight, so that one’s a wash. After a fabulous week in sunny Mozambique Lauren and I scampered down to Cape Town and enjoyed the Mother City in all her glory.

I’ll let the photos do the talking. Here is a small sample of the 1,600 photos that were taken over two weeks. Gabor has finally met his shutterbug match, and as usual, I am the one who benefits from all the gorgeous photos to choose from.

Reunited and it feels so good.

Maputo’s version of Payless.

Best chicken ever.

We begged Lauren to share just one prawn with us but she simply didn’t have a single spare…

…and so we ordered clams instead.

Friendship defies gravity.

Praia do Xai Xai

We brought Rambo along for muscle.

This is where your food comes from.

The view as we arrived at our Cape Town digs.

Cape Town!

The next time you take photos in the booth on Table Mountain just know that everyone outside is watching you on a live video screen.

Cheers, amiga. Thank you for a fabulous vacation.

What’s next?? A post vacation vacation! Tomorrow I board a flight bound for home. For three weeks I’ll skip from east coast to west, from north to south and give hugs to and share tacos with all the people I love. Yum.
